The Research

A vibrant, radiant complexion is intimately connected to the pH of the skin’s outermost layer, the Stratum Corneum.

Sensitivity, barrier breakdown, pigmentation and premature ageing are all consequences of environmental damage. These occur as a result of excessive solar exposure, causing the skin’s pH to shift from a healthy acidic state to alkaline, triggering the upregulation of enzymes that break down connective tissue and erode protective barrier structures.

Signalling peptides in human skin direct all metabolic processes, including desquamation (cell turnover), cellular differentiation (cellular function), and hydration. Short-chain protein sequences and ceramides are critical in these intercellular communication processes.
